TNI Bureau: India thrashed England by 9 wickets to win the first test match at Motera, Ahmedabad and took a 1-0 lead in the four-match test series. Although India win the match, England received kudos for their fighting spirit in the second innings.

Chasing a victory target of 77, Indian openers Sehwag and Pujara played with aggression. Sehwag was out for 25 off 21 balls. India reached 80/1 in 15.3 overs. Cheteshwar Pujara remained unbeaten on 41.  Pujara was declared ‘Man of the Match’ for his 206* and 41* in both innings. England bowlers failed to dismiss him in this test match.
