Petroleum Ministry asks Oil Cos to provide relief to Chennai Floods

The Minister of State (I/C) for Petroleum and Natural Gas Shri Dharmendra Pradhan has instructed the Oil Marketing Companies to provide all possible relief to the flood and rain ravaged people of Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Following steps are proposed to be undertaken by the Oil Marketing Companies.:

a) Regarding documents lost in the floods, the companies will organize a special camp for supply of documents on priority basis.

b) Regarding cases where cylinders are lost, following arrangement is proposed:

i) For BPL families, the companies will charge nominal Rs 200 per cylinder for replacing old cylinders

ii) For APL families, the affected families will pay Rs 1200 (manufacturing cost of the cylinder) for cylinders lost during floods.

The above proposed measures to be undertaken by the Companies are expected to provide necessary relief to the affected and distressed people.
