‘Battered’ Woman kills ‘Demon’ Husband in Bhubaneswar

Date:

BBSR-Murder-Pramod“My daughter has done no wrong. Like Goddess Durga, she killed a demon, who made her life hell,” says Mr. Rajkishore Mohapatra whose daughter Trupti took the drastic step of killing her husband Pramod Routray, owner of a Gas Agency in Bhubaneswar. Pramod’s dead body was recovered from the Sialiaganj Nala near Mendhasala under Chandaka Police Station a few days ago.

The Commissionerate Police have cracked the case after interrogating Trupti several times. According to the cops, Pramod had forcibly abducted Trupti and made his wife when she was just 15. Later, he kept physical relations with many girls and women and did not even spare Trupti’s younger sister and created obstacles in her marriage too.

Pramod was torturing Trupti and forced her to keep relationship with his friends and other clients despite her stiff opposition. He had also tried to murder her on one occasion by giving high doses of sleeping pills, but she survived.

‘Enough is enough’, decided Trupti one day and mixed 25 sleeping pills in Pramod’s protein powder. When Pramod went into deep sleep, she sat on his chest and strangulated him using his ‘chunri’ or ‘dupatta’ or ‘scarf’. After committing the murder, she sat motionless for four hours and then contacted her parents. Trupti’s father and brother decided to dump the body in the nala and tried to mislead the cops.

The police have arrested Trupti, her father Rajkishore Mohapatra and her brother Mahesh Mohapatra and seized the Ford Ecosport car and other articles. A case has been registered against them at the Chandaka Police Station.
