Odisha Govt reduces Bus Fares

Ramesh MajhiAfter the reduction of diesel prices by Rs 3.63 per litre, the government of Odisha today reduced the bus fares 1 paise per km for ordinary and express buses while 2 paise per km for deluxe and deluxe AC buses.

While talking to The News Insight, Transport Minister Ramesh Majhi said the new fares will be charged with effect from today.

According to New fares, the passengers will have to pay 63 paise per km in ordinary and 66 paise in express buses. Similarly, in deluxe buses passengers will pay 87 paise per km whereas Deluxe AC will charge Rs 1.06 per km, he added.

The minister also acknowledged that the government would formulate a mechanism to link the bus fares with diesel price so that the fares would automatically change with the fluctuations of fuel prices.
