The Netherlands thrashed hosts Brazil 3-0 to finish third in the FIFA World Cup Football. The grand finale will be played between Argentina and Germany later tonight. All efforts of the Brazilian team to secure a bronze medal went in vain, as they were outplayed by the Dutch.

Robin van Persie and Daley Blind scored early goals to give the Netherlands an edge over the five-time world champions. Wijnaldum scored the third goal in injury time to make it 3-0. The Brazil team was loudly booed by the nearly 70,000 fans at the National Stadium in Brasilia.

Brazil were already shell-shocked following the 7-1 loss to Germany in the semifinal. It was their worst-ever defeat in FIFA World Cup history.
