1) A 54-year-old Security Guard, Gopal Chandra Ghosh, has shot himself dead, using his service rifle at the residence of Mayurbhanj District Collector in Baripada. Ghosh was working as the Security Guard of District Collector Rajesh Pravakar Patil. Family tension is said to be reason behind his suicide.

2) Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram has assured the people of Odisha that he will make a strong case for Odisha in the Polavaram project to ensure that the state’s interests are protected. He also blamed the BJD government for not putting up a strong fight to present Odisha’s case before the centre. Jual Oram also reiterated his stand to oppose the allocation of Khandadhar mines to POSCO.

3) The Odisha Congress started its post-mortem in Bhubaneswar. However, instead of finding the fault within, the party leaders have blamed the alleged misuse of state machinery, money power and involvement of the police force for the poll debacle.
