Muslims across India celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr with Fervor

TNI Bureau: Eid-ul-Fitr, the day of feast and festivities was celebrated by the Muslims across India with fervor. The occasion marks the end of the period of fasting during the holy month of Ramadan.

 

Thousands of Muslims flocked to different mosques to offer prayers.  The prayer was followed by a grand feast.

Syed Ahmed Bukhari, the Shahi imam of Jama Masjid in Delhi, urged the Muslims on the eve of Eid – ul – Fitr to not to fall prey to rumors as during the past few days India has witnessed several incidents of ethnic violence.

 

Eid-ul-Fitr falls on the first day of the Islamic month of Shawwalwas. In Karnataka and Kerala the mosques on Light House Hill, Masjidunnoor in Hampankatta, Taqwa Masjid in Pumpwell and Kachi Memon Masjid in Bunder were overcrowded with devotees.

 

Devotees also prayed for communal harmony and welfare of the country on the occasion. They condoled for the victims of violence in Assam and other parts of the world. Children dressed in new-fangled clothes added color to the celebration. After the prayers people wished and hugged each other.
