Sehwag unveils Renovated Ground of Pragati Sporting
While inaugurating the renovated playground of Pragati Sporting in Bhubaneswar on Sunday, explosive batsman Virender Sehwag has said that winning a match is more important than the individual records in a game.
“For me, if I have scored double century in a match and the team lost it then the individual score was a total wastage for me. If the situation turns reverse that if I got a 40 or 50 runs and the team won the match, then I think the second statement is very ideal for me,” said Sehwag.
“When I play a match, I always visualize the situation on the ground and accordingly I set my plan and play every shot in confident. This is my natural habit, but some legendary player like Sachin Tendulkar always felt nervous before facing the first two balls, but after that they become complete different players.
The Pragati Sporting Club created two newly synthetic turf wickets along with practice pitch surrounding by nets around providing better technical sports to their members.
Naturally, the natural turf pitches suffer in bad weather. This in turn can result in period of non use or poor use at the very least. There is also the cost of maintaining this type of pitch in order to render it useful on a regular basis, informed Pragati Sporting coach Kishor Mania.
However, with synthetic turf pitches, very little maintenance and very few repairs are needed. The tufted polypropylene synthetic grass wickets are conducive to both pace and spin for all levels of cricket in all weather. To strengthen the facilities in the club a bowling machine from United Kingdom was added, which has 19 variations with maximum speed of 160 miles per hour.
Among others, Chief Secretary Jugal Mahapatra, Director General of Police (DGP) Prakash Mishra, Additional DGP Sanjeev Marik, Odisha Cricket Association secretary Asirbad Behera, Tata Deputy Vice-President Arun Mishra, OCA president Ranjib Biswal, Secretary Nilesh Bahidhar were present at the occasion.
