Odisha to get New Integrated Lok Seva Bhawan, Assembly Complex

Date:

TNI Bureau: The number of seats in the Odisha Legislative Assembly may increase significantly in the coming years, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said today while addressing the foundation stone laying ceremony of the new Legislative Assembly building and Lok Seva Bhavan.

According to an official release, the new Lok Seva Bhavan will be developed as a large, integrated administrative complex spread over 71.13 acres. The project will house both the state administrative secretariat and the new Odisha Legislative Assembly building within a single campus. The master plan for the project has already been approved, with an estimated cost of ₹3,623 crore.

The upcoming complex will feature modern infrastructure, including underground parking, to address long-standing logistical issues and improve administrative efficiency. The integrated design is also expected to ensure better coordination between the executive and legislative wings of the government.

Officials said the new Assembly building has been planned keeping future requirements in mind. While Odisha currently has 147 Assembly seats, the number is expected to rise following delimitation, with a likely addition of around 50 seats in the coming years. To support long-term growth, the Assembly building is being designed with provisions for up to 300 seats, keeping the next 50 to 100 years in view.

The project is being seen as a major step towards strengthening Odisha’s governance infrastructure and preparing the state for future administrative and legislative needs.
