5 People, including Teachers, Arrested in Minor Girl Sexual Assault Case in Kendrapada

TNI Bureau: A shocking case of sexual assault involving a minor girl has been registered at Rajkanika Police Station under Case No. 54 dated 21 February 2026. The case pertains to the alleged repeated sexual assault of a 12-year-old student of Oxford English Medium School, Olaver, in Kendrapada district.

According to police, the victim’s mother lodged a written complaint on February 21, stating that her daughter had disclosed being repeatedly assaulted by school teachers and threatened with dire consequences if she spoke out.

Based on the complaint, a case was registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Sections 4 and 6 of the POCSO Act.

Police acted swiftly and apprehended all five accused on the same day. The arrested individuals include three teachers — Chandan Kumar Prusty (37), Biswa Ranjan Sahoo (31), Rashmi Kanta Biswal (47) — along with teacher Minati Bai (34) and peon Rashmi Ranjan Rana (32).

A forensic team has been deployed to examine the school premises. The victim is undergoing medical examination as per protocol, and her statement is being recorded under Sections 180 and 183 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita in a child-friendly environment. Authorities have also initiated psychological counselling and support for the child.

The investigation is being led by the Deputy Superintendent of Police, IUCAW, and personally supervised by the Superintendent of Police, Kendrapada. The case has been placed under the Swift Trial Initiative to ensure speedy investigation and trial.

Odisha Police has stated that the matter is being handled with utmost seriousness and sensitivity, reaffirming its commitment to securing justice for the victim.
