26/11: Ajmal Kasab pleads for Mercy to President

Date:

TNI Bureau: Ajmal Kasab, who is convicted in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks and sentenced to death, has pleaded for mercy to President Pranab Mukherjee. If his petition will be rejected, he will be the 52nd man to be hanged in India since 1947.

He filed his mercy petition through Arthur road jailor. The terrorist is currently lodged in that jail.

Now the nation will wait for the President’s decision. It can be noted that Mr President will not be in hurry in the case as already the mercy petition of Mohammed Afzal Guru in 2001 Parliament attack case is on hold.

Kasab is the only Pakistani terrorist, who was caught alive, after the terror strike in Mumbai. The Supreme Court on August 29 had convicted him and awarded him the death penalty upholding the verdict by the trial court and the Bombay High Court.
