24th Road Safety Week Observed in Balangir

By Himanshu Guru: In the wake of the 24th Road Safety Week, the district administration of Balangir today observed the closing ceremony with the participation of a large number of students, volunteers and citizens of the district.

To mark the occasion, students from different schools of the district and others marched in a rally, and the district administration conducted a meeting to aware the citizens about road safety.

A large number of students took part in the awareness rally that started from P.R. High School to reach at the Women’s College where a meeting was held at 11 A.M. onwards.

The dignitaries present on the stage were Smt. Kalyani Dash, DIPRO, Balangir, Sri G.K. Dash, I.M.V., Balangir, Sri G.M. Singh, R.T.O., Balangir, Dr. B.L. Kindo, CDMO and the District Social Welfare Officer, Balangir.

After address by the DIPRO, school students performed the opening song and then the guests spoke to the audience about road safety. At last, the vote of thanks was offered by the I.M.V. and the meeting was over.

Though Sri D.M. Mishra, District Magistrate cum Chairman, Dist. Road safety Society and Sri R.Prakash, S.P. of Police, Balangir were supposed to be the Chief Guest and Chief Speaker of the meeting respectively, they could not attend the same due to some official engagements, revealed a senior officer of the district administration.

About one thousand people, including government officials of the district, students, intelligentsia and common citizens attended the road safety week observance.
