+2 Physics Exam cancelled after Question Leak

Date:

Bhubaneswar: Plus Two Physics exam was cancelled in Odisha after question papers were leaked before the examination on Thursday. Crime Branch probe has been ordered into the leakage of the paper. The cancellation of the exam has brought disappointment among the students, who were preparing for Medical entrance and Engineering test.

The leakage of Physics question paper raised question over the efficiency of the Higher Education Department. Even the government failed to clarify in the Assembly how the question papers were leaked from the exam centres amidst tight security.

Both the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) and government had claimed before the Plus Two exam that the questions have been kept in iron chests and security forces were deployed at the exam centres. However, their claims appeared to be false after the question papers for physics were leaked.

The CHSE is planning to reschedule the exam of the concerned paper by the end of this month. Higher Education Minister Badri Narayan Patra told the media that the test will be re-conducted and preventive measures will be taken to make sure that such things will not be repeated in other papers.

The minister said that stern action will be taken after the Crime Branch ascertains the source of the paper leak.

The government might have no issue to re-conduct the exam of the concerned paper, but students will have to face tough time in the coming days as they could not devote more time on the preparation for medical entrance and OJEE test. The rescheduled date may create hindrance for IIT aspirants, who are preparing for the national level entrance test.
