100-Word Edit: That ’36 All Out’

100-Word Edit: That ’36 All Out’

Date:

In June 1974, India bowled out for 42 against England in the Lord’s Test. Eknath Solkar was the top scorer with 18, while legends like Gavaskar, Viswanath, Engineer and Wadekar failed to reach double digit score.

For 46 years, Team India did not go below the 50 mark with 66 against South Africa at Durban in 1996 being their lowest score.

However, on December 19, 2020, the disaster occurred at Adelaide. They slumped to their lowest total ’36 all out’ with not a single batsman reaching double digit. This dubious and humiliating distinction will haunt all of us for several years.
