Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony of India’s first advanced 3D glass semiconductor packaging unit in Bhubaneswar, the minister said the scale of investment marks an unprecedented push to enhance both passenger and freight capacity. He noted that the Centre’s focus remains on strengthening connectivity while accelerating project execution.

Vaishnaw also reviewed the ongoing redevelopment of Bhubaneswar Railway Station, stressing timely completion and high construction standards. The upgraded station, he said, will offer modern amenities and significantly improve passenger comfort, aligning with Indian Railways’ vision of world-class transit hubs.

Odisha has received a record railway budget allocation of ₹10,928 crore, which the minister said is enabling fast-tracked execution of key projects. As part of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, 59 stations in the state have entered the modernisation phase, aimed at transforming them into passenger-friendly, upgraded facilities.

Emphasising inclusive development, Vaishnaw stated that efforts are underway to bring all 30 districts of Odisha under the रेलवे network, improving access to remote and interior regions and integrating them with the national grid.

Among the major upcoming projects, the proposed four-line coastal rail corridor between Balasore and Berhampur is expected to significantly enhance capacity along Odisha’s coastline. The corridor is likely to ease congestion, enable faster movement of freight and passengers, and stimulate economic activity across the region.

The minister said these initiatives will play a crucial role in driving growth, boosting connectivity, and positioning Odisha as a key hub in India’s expanding railway network.
