World Cup Archery: Gold eludes Deepika Kumari

India’s ace woman Archer, Deepika Kumari yet again faltered at the last hurdle to win her third successive silver medal at the World Cup Archery. She had won silver medals in 2011 and 2012 too. Deepika lost to Olympic champion Yun Ok-hee of South Korea in the final in Paris.

Deepika-KumariThe 19-year-old Deepika started with three perfect 10s to lead 3-1 against her Korean opponent, but messed it up in the third set to concede the advantage. The Korean won 6-4 in the end. It was Yun’s second gold medal in the World Cup.

In June 2013, the Indian trio of Rimil Buriuly, L Bombayla Devi and Deepika Kumari defeated top seeded Chinese trio of Xu Jing, Cheng Ming and Cui Yuanyuan 201-186 to win the gold medal in the Recurve Event at the Archery World Cup Stage 3 in Medellin, Colombia.
