World Bank to strengthen Higher Education in Odisha

Bhubaneswar 26th Nov’13: The World Bank team comprising of Senior Education Specialist Nalin Jena, Lead Education Specialist Tobias Linden and Senior Economist Sangeeta Goyal during their visit to Odisha have discussed with Sri Gagan Kumar Dhal, Principal Secretary, Higher Education today at his secretariat chamber.

World Bank EducationTheir discussion centered around World Bank’s help to strengthen Higher Education in our state. Current status and challenges in the sphere of higher education and the Department’s initiatives to overcome the challenges were also discussed in details.

The World Bank team stressed on the infrastructural development, training and research programmes as well as inclusion of a progressive and employment oriented course curriculum and syllabus to cater to the present need of the hour. Sri Dhal reiterated the endeavours taken by the Department to give a new dimension to the present educational system of higher education in the state.

Members of the World Bank team expressed their satisfaction over the progress and steps taken by the Department of Higher Education and the Department is hopeful of getting financial assistance from World Bank to strengthen higher education system in Odisha.
