The American crew on the US ship failed to answer why they entered the Indian waters with heavy weapons without permission. Even semi-automatic weapons were found on board the ship. The necessary documents to carry such weapons, are missing too.

The security guards reportedly belong to a private US firm, which provides armed escorts to merchant vessels. The vessel was brought to Tuticorin Port. The crew are being interrogated by the Indian Coast Guard, Indian Navy, Customs and Intelligence officials.
