Trucks with Rs 10 Crore seized in Mumbai

The Income Tax Department on a tip off from the National Investigation Agency, has seized four trucks laden with cash worth Rs 10 crore, and gold and diamond jewellery in Mumbai. At least 47 people have been detained along with the trucks.

The trucks were seized outside the Mumbai Central Railway Station. They were supposed to leave for Ahmedabad. Although a terror angle has been ruled out for the time being, investigators hinted at ‘hawala transactions’.

The 47 people detained by the police, were on the trucks. They include personal couriers, known as ‘angadiyas’. 20 of them were let off after questioning. The investigation is still on to ascertain the owners of those huge cache of cash and ornaments.
