Just a day after the BJP cadres erupted into joy and celebrations following the anointment of Narendra Modi as the 2014 Election Campaign Committee Chief, veteran leader LK Advani, who was pursuing a Prime Ministerial ambition, has quit from all party posts, sending the party in a tizzy.

The BJP leaders and cadres were left shell-shocked, as Advani sent his resignation letter to party President Rajnath Singh. The rift within the BJP is wide open, as there is no scope for any doubt or defence. The party had to bite the bitter pill ahead of the “mother of all elections”, which may damage their prospects and reputation too.

Advani resigned from the posts of National Executive, Parliamentary Board and Election Committee. In his resignation letter to Rajnath Singh, Advani wrote that he was fighting it difficult to reconcile with the current functioning in the party. He further accused the party leaders of pursuing their personal agenda, which is absolutely ridiculous. Everybody believes that it is Advani, who carries a personal agenda.

Meanwhile, Rajnath Singh has rejected the resignation letter submitted by LK Advani. Further details are awaited.
