TNI Bureau: The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has released the findings of its Independent Drive Test (IDT) conducted across Brahmapur city and adjoining areas in Odisha during December 2025.
The tests were carried out from December 16 to 18, covering 360 km of drive routes, a 4.1 km walk test and eight hotspot locations. The assessment included 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G networks to reflect real user experience in urban, institutional and nearby rural areas. The findings have been shared with all telecom service providers.
Voice Services Performance:
Call Setup Success Rate (CSSR) in auto-selection mode (5G/4G/3G/2G) was recorded as:
Airtel: 99.76%
BSNL: 83.87%
Reliance Jio: 99.07%
Vodafone Idea (VIL): 94.53%
Poor signal strength during voice testing was observed as:
Airtel: 3.73%
BSNL: 23.40%
Reliance Jio: 3.96%
VIL: 12.58%
Data Services Performance:
Poor signal strength during data testing in auto-selection mode was:
Airtel: 13.17%
BSNL: 18.28%
Reliance Jio: 11.06%
VIL: 17.72%
The assessment covered areas including Ralaba, Golanthara, Girisola, Chikiti, Bendalia, Pathara, Chatrapur, Aryapalli, Ganjam, Humma, Khandadiuli, Purusottampur, Kavisuryanagar, Baragam, Burupada, Sheragada, Pattapur and Digapahandi.
Walk tests were conducted at Brahmapur Railway Station and Gopalpur Sea Beach. Stationary user experience was evaluated at key locations such as Brahmapur New Bus Stand, District Collector Office, Government Science College Chatrapur, MKCG Medical College, Municipal Corporation Office, Rock Garden, RTO Office Chatrapur and Shree Maa Budhi Thakurani Temple.
