“How can a ‘Developed India’ exist when the state fails to provide even a drop of safe drinking water?” – Bhakta Das.
OPCC President Bhakta Charan Das slammed the government over the Palatpur water tragedy in Jajpur. Toxic water contaminated with arsenic and lead has allegedly killed over 120 people, while residents have agitated for clean water since 2018.
Calling it institutional murder, Das accused both past and present governments of wilful neglect. He demanded immediate tap water supply, mass health screening and accountability from the Chief Minister and Centre, asserting that safe drinking water is a fundamental right, not a political slogan.
