TNI Bureau: Telangana crisis continues to intensify as seven Congress MPs from Andhra Pradesh said that they will send their resignations to the party high command Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday after the Centre deferred the decision on making separate statehood in Andhra Pradesh.

The Congress MPs from Telangana expressed their anger after Union government put the decision on hold. The Centre had promised to take a decision on statehood for Telangana by January 28.

The angry protesters clashed with police in Hyderabad on Monday after Ghulam Nabi Azad said the government needs more consultations on the politically and emotionally sensitive issue.

Heavy security forces have been deployed at the sensitive points of Hyderabad to disperse the protesters. The issue seems to take another turn if Congress MPs from Andhra will resign. It would be the biggest setback for the party, which recently vowed to work together at two-day Chintan Shivir at Jaipur.
