Tamil Nadu Ammonia Leak: Odia Workers’ Death Toll Rises to 7

TNI Bureau: The death toll of Odia workers in the ammonia gas leak at a seafood processing factory in Tamil Nadu’s Tiruvallur district has risen to 7, with Jamuni Juanga of Kendujhar district succumbing to injuries while undergoing treatment on Tuesday. Another deceased worker remains unidentified but is suspected to be Phulomani Juanga from Odisha.

The other victims from Kendujhar district have been identified as Gumani Juanga, Geeta Juanga, Champabati Juanga and Shibani Juanga.

The suspected ammonia gas leak occurred on Sunday at a private seafood processing and export unit in Kannigaipair village near Periyapalayam. Around 120 migrant workers, including many from Odisha, Assam and Jharkhand, were present at the facility when the leak exposed them to toxic fumes.

According to official figures, 64 workers were affected by the incident, and several were admitted to nearby hospitals for treatment.
