TNI Bureau: Rajya Sabha MP Sujeet Kumar’s intervention has led to the restoration of a Second AC (2AC) coach in Bhubaneswar–Junagarh Road Express, offering relief to passengers travelling between coastal and western Odisha.
In a letter dated February 23, 2026, the Rajya Sabha MP had written to Parmeshwar Funkwal, General Manager, East Coast Railway, highlighting the difficulties caused by the withdrawal of the 2AC coach from the train. He noted that the train serves a diverse group of passengers, including government officials, professionals, students and patients travelling to Bhubaneswar for medical treatment. Earlier, on February 22, 2026, senior BJP leader and former minister Pradipta Naik had also raised this issue.
Sujeet had emphasized that air-conditioned accommodation is essential for long-distance travellers, particularly during the summer months, and pointed out that the removal of the coach had reduced ticket availability on the busy route connecting western Odisha districts.
Responding to the MP’s request, the East Coast Railway informed him that an additional 2AC coach has been added to the train with effect from February 27, 2026.
The move is expected to ease travel for passengers on the important route linking Junagarh Road with the state capital.
