Sri Lanka beat West Indies in Celkon Mobile Cup

With a 39-run over the West Indies last night, Sri Lanka almost booked a place in the Tri-Series final, making things difficult for India. India need to beat Sri Lanka at any cost to enter the final on a better net run rate.

Earlier, Sri Lanka resumed from the overnight score of 61/3 and scored 219/8 in 41 overs. The match was reduced to 41 overs a side due to rains. Kumar Sangakkara remained unbeaten on 90, while Thirimanne (23) and Angelo Mathews (31) were the other contributors. Kemar Roach took four wickets, while Jason Holder took two wickets.

Chasing a victory target od 230 (D/L Method), West Indies were 31/4 at one stage. Despite a fightback from Darren Bravo (70) and Lendl Simmons (67), who added 123 runs for the fifth wicket, West Indies finished at 190/9 in 41 overs and lost the match by 39 runs. For Sri Lanka, Mathews took four wickets. Shaminda Eranga took three wickets, while Malinga took two. Kumar Sangakkara was declared ‘Man of the Match’.
