The unrest at Shailabala Women’s College is no routine campus agitation. Students demanding university status have been on the streets, braving uncertainty and academic disruption, yet the government’s silence is deafening.

A historic institution with proven academic credentials cannot be left in limbo. If the demand is unjustified, say so transparently. If it has merit, act decisively. Prolonged inaction only deepens distrust and punishes students for seeking institutional growth.

Governance cannot function on indifference. The state government must break its silence , either engage meaningfully or risk turning legitimate aspiration into lasting alienation.
