TNI Bureau: The Odisha Vigilance intercepted Dr. Sanatana Behera, Associate Professor in the Department of Hepatology at SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack, and seized ₹2.63 lakh in unaccounted cash from his possession.

Based on credible inputs about the collection of illegal cash from bidders supplying medical instruments to the hepatology department, a vigilance team stopped Dr. Behera on Medical Road near Kathagolasahi while he was travelling to his government quarters on a scooter.

As he failed to satisfactorily explain the source of the cash, the amount was seized. Following the interception, vigilance officials launched searches at three locations linked to him from a disproportionate assets angle.

A case (Cuttack Vigilance PS Case No. 4/2026) has been registered against Dr. Behera under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2018, and he is being examined to ascertain the source of the funds.
