Pakistan allowed the family of Sarabjit Singh, who is in deep coma following a brutal assault in Lahore jail, to see him at the hospital where he is undergoing treatment. His condition is still critical.
Sarabjit’s sister, wife and two daughters saw him through a window from outside the ICU. They arrived in Pakistan through the Wagah land border crossing this afternoon after being granted visas by the Pakistan high commission in Delhi. They appealed to Pakistani authorities to send Sarabjit back to India for better treatment.
However, Indian High Commission officials in Islamabad were restricted to access to Sarabjit. On Saturday, two officials were allowed to visit Sarabjit only for a few minutes. Later, Pak authorities did not allow them. saying their consular access granted was meant for only on visit. It can be noted that the hospital has turned a jail.
The Indian government has taken up the issue with their Pak counterpart, saying the Indian officials should be allowed to visit the Indian national at the side has taken up the issue with their Pakistani counterparts, saying that Indian officials should be allowed the state-run Jinnah Hospital in Lahore.
