Sanjay Dutt gets 4 Weeks’ Time to Surrender

Date:

Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt got a big relief today, as he got four weeks’ time from the Supreme Court to surrender to complete his remaining three and half years jail term in connection with the 1993 bomb blast case in which he was convicted of possessing illegal weapons.

Sanjay Dutt was supposed to surrender on April 18, but now he can surrender on May 16. Dutt had sought six months’ time to surrender so that he can complete his pending films worth Rs 278 crore.

Although the Supreme Court had rejected the appeals of 70-year-old Zaibunissa Kazi and two others who sought more time to surrender in the same case, it showed leniency in case of Sanjay Dutt citing humanitarian issues, triggering a huge debate over the judicial system in India.
