RSP’s Summer Coaching Camp Concluded

By Aurobinda Das: Summer Coaching Camp, the annual sporting extravaganza for the budding talents of the state organized by Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) concluded at Ispat Stadium on 24th May.

On the concluding occasion the Chief Guest   R.K. Nehru, ED (MM), presented awards to various teams belonging to 10 disciplines who displayed their sporting skills during the camp. It is noteworthy that Volleyball stood first followed by Football and Kabaddi in the second and third positions respectively. Other seven teams got consolation prizes. The hockey group also displayed their talents on the dance floor to the tune of the popular song ‘Chaka de India’ which was another attraction of the programme.

The students not only from Rourkela but also from neighbouring areas took part in the coaching camp. During the Camp training  was  provided in 14 disciplines with 800 participants comprising Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Body building,  Boxing, Chess, Cricket,  Cycling, Football, Hockey, Kabaddi, Table Tennis, Volleyball, Weight lifting and power lifting.

The multi-location camp was organized at the Ispat stadium, Basketball complex, Biju Patnaik Hockey Stadium, Ispat Indoor Stadium and the Chess Hall of Ispat Stadium. It is worth mentioning here that this sporting fiesta was inaugurated on 4th May. A record number of more than 1600 students were taking part in the Summer Coaching Camp.
