TNI Bureau: A passenger injured during the force-landing of a nine-seater aircraft near Rourkela on January 10 died while undergoing treatment at a private hospital.
The deceased has been identified as Susanta Kumar Biswal. He was admitted to the ICU after sustaining serious injuries in the mishap but succumbed to them before he could be airlifted for advanced treatment.
The single-engine aircraft, operated by private airline IndiaOne, was flying from Bhubaneswar to Rourkela when it developed a technical snag and made a force-landing in a field near the city.
Two crew members and four passengers, including Biswal and his sister Anita Sahoo, were injured in the incident. All were rushed to a private hospital near Vedvyas in Rourkela.
Authorities had arranged an air ambulance to shift Biswal to Mumbai at 1.40 pm on Friday after his condition worsened. However, he died before being taken to the airport.
Earlier in the day, Principal Secretary of the Commerce and Transport Department, Usha Padhee, along with a senior IndiaOne official, visited the hospital to enquire about his condition.
