Insight Bureau: Heavy rainfall continued at various places across Coastal Odisha due to deep depression that crossed the North Odisha coast near Chandbali this morning.
Puri records highest rainfall in a September day in 87 years – 341mm. Paradip too recorded 219mm rainfall during the period. At least two people reported died in Kendrapara district due to wall collapse owing to incessant rains.
Situation is no different in Cuttack too due to incessant rains. Many low-lying areas in Cuttack are inundated.
While red warning has been issued in 8 districts of Odisha – Puri, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Dhenkanal, Ganjam, Gajapati, Nayagarh, Kendrapara that will witness intense spells of rain, orange warning has been issued for Khordha, Boudh, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Angul, Jajpur till 11:30 AM.
The School & Mass Education Department has announced closure of schools in 12 districts – Puri, Cuttack, Khordha, Jagatsinghpur, Dhenkanal, Kendrapada, Nayagarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh. Angul. Sonepur and Bargarh due to incessant rains.
