Earlier, Rajasthan won the toss and elected to field first. Sreesanth claimed the wickets of Mandeep Singh and Adam Gilchrist early, while Faulkner ran Mohan Vohra out to leave Punjab tottering at 10/3 at one stage. They failed to recover from that shock and bowled out for 124 in 18.5 overs. David Hussey was the top scorer with 41, while Azhar Mahmood made 23. Sreesanth, Cooper, Faulkner and Siddharth Trivedi took two wickets each.

Rajasthan Royals reached the target in 19.2 overs and lost 4 wickets in the process. Shane Watson (32), Rahane (34) and Sanju Samson (27*) were the top scorers. Praveen Kumar took two wickets. James Faulkner was declared ‘Man of the Match’.
