TNI Bureau: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s speech in the Lok Sabha was interrupted multiple times after he attempted to read excerpts from an unpublished book (Four Stars of Destiny) by former Army Chief General Manoj Naravane.
The excerpts linked to the book, had startling revelations about Chinese aggression on August 31, 2020. The “unverified details” questioned the political intent to respond to the Chinese aggression while Forces were ready to go for the kill.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was present in the House during the discussion but chose not to participate.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh objected, saying Gandhi was quoting from a magazine report and that the book had not been published, which he said violated parliamentary rules. He demanded that Gandhi present the book before the House.
Rahul Gandhi responded that his source was authentic and that the excerpts were from General Naravane’s unpublished memoirs. He also hit back at the Government, he will continue to speak on the issue of national security and his voices can’t be silenced.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also intervened, stating that since the book was unpublished, magazines could report anything, questioning the reliability of the source.
While Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla gave the ruling against Rahul Gandhi quoting Naravane’s book, Rahul kept talking on the same topic without giving up, leading to 3 adjournments and eventually for the day. Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju tried to shut Rahul up, but in vain.
Lok Sabha key witness similar scenes tomorrow too if Rahul chooses to continue speaking on Naravane’s book.
