Rahul Gandhi Calls NEET Exam System “An Auction”

Date:

TNI Bureau: Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on the Centre following the cancellation of NEET-UG 2026 over alleged paper leak and examination irregularities.

Reacting to the development, Rahul Gandhi said the medical entrance examination had turned into “an auction rather than an exam” and accused the Narendra Modi government of repeatedly failing to protect the future of students. He alleged that question papers were being circulated on WhatsApp hours before the examination, destroying the trust of lakhs of aspirants who had prepared for months.

In a social media post, Gandhi said over 22 lakh students had studied day and night for the examination, only to see their future jeopardised due to repeated failures in the system. He also claimed that paper leaks and re-examinations had become frequent under the present government, calling it a serious threat to the aspirations of India’s youth.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) earlier in the day announced the cancellation of NEET-UG 2026 conducted on May 3, citing findings shared by central agencies and law enforcement authorities regarding alleged irregularities in the examination process. The Centre has also ordered a CBI probe into the matter and said fresh examination dates would be announced separately.

The cancellation has triggered widespread outrage among students and parents across the country, with protests erupting in several states over the alleged leak and repeated examination failures.
