In a huge development, which may redefine the media functioning in Bhubaneswar, many senior Journalists, Editors, Columnists and Correspondents of Newspapers, Television Channels, Agencies and News Portals, held a meeting at the Hotel HHI in Bhubaneswar on August 7 to form a new Press Club for the working journalists. As per the decision taken at the meeting, the Press Club will be registered within a month.
The meeting concluded that the ‘by law’ of the Press Club will be prepared within seven days and discussed. Later, within 15 days of that meeting, the new Press Club will be registered. All working journalists from the Dailies, Weekly, Fortnightly, Monthly newspapers, TV Channels, Radio, Websites and Agencies will be included in the club.
Mr. Debendra Prusty from Suryaprava was the convener of the meeting, while ‘Sanchar’ Editor Prasanna Kumar Mishra presided over the meeting as the President. Those who were present at the meeting, included, veteran journalists Rabi Das and Prasanta Pattnaik, Subhas Chandra Pattanayak (Odisha Matters Dot Com), Pradyumna Satapathy (Subarta), Prakash Patra, Subrat Das, Subhasish Mohanty (The Telegraph), DN Singh (Zee News), K Ravi (The Statesman), Dillip Bisoi (Financial Express), Pratap Mohanty (AFP), Debabrata Mohanty (The New Indian Express), Basudev Mohapatra (Naxatra News), Prasanna Mohanty (OUJ), Debendra Nath Dash and Ambika Prasad Kanungo (Sahanamela), Umapad Bosh and Ambika Das (Odisha Express), Akhand (India Media Centre), Sagar Satapathy (The News Insight), Kedar Mishra (Anupam Bharat), Sriram Dash (Columnist), Subas Sarangi (Columnist), Pradyumna Mohanty (Aaji Kali), Bibekananda Dash (Janatantra), Gobind Samal (Krantidhara), Durga Madhab Mishra (Kanak TV), Ramachandi Prasad Ranasingh and Santosh Tripathy (Suryaprava), Sanat Mishra (Samajwadi), Bibhuti Bhushan Rana and Ranjan Tripathy (Odisha Times TV), Sudhanshu Patra and Dwitikrushna Pahi ((Live Odisha TV).
Some senior journalists, who could not attend the meeting due to some inevitable reasons, but sent their best wishes and supported the initiative, included Sampad Mohapatra (Senior Journalist), Basant Das (Senior Columnist), Sarada Prasad Nanda (The Pioneer), Jatin Dash (Reuters), Rajaram Satapathy (The Times of India) and Debi Patnaik (UNI).
