Prakash Mishra takes over as Odisha DGP

Breaking News! Prakash Mishra, a 1977 batch IPS officer, has taken over as the new Director General of Police (DGP), Odisha. He replaced Manmohan Praharaj. Mr. Praharaj has been appointed as Commandant General of Home Guards.

Mr. Prakash Mishra was deputed as the Director General of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). He was relieved following a request made by the state government to the Home Ministry.

Odisha Chief Minister decided to change the DGP after the intelligence failure in sensing the “coup” attempt made by Pyari Mohan Mohapatra on May 29.

After taking charge, the new DGP said that his main focus will be on civil policing. He will work on reducing the gap between the police force and common people. Mr. Prakash Mishra also said that strengthening of investigation will be high on his agenda.
