Official Sunstroke Death Toll rises to 36 in Odisha

TNI Bureau: The heatwave continued to hit the normal life and the death toll rose to 36 in Odisha with more people succumbing to sunstroke in the coastal and western part of the state.

According to government record, the death toll is 36. If the heatwave will continue in the coming days, the state will witness more casualties.

Even though light rain in past one day, the mercury level remained above 40 degree Celsius. The heatwave deaths were recorded in Balasore, Angul, Bargarh, Bolangir, Boudh, Ganjam, Jajpur and Sonepur.

The normal life was hit when the mercury level remained 45 degree Celsius in most of the districts and above 46 in the state capital Bhubaneswar.

Meanwhile, people are more humiliated and suffocated due to water and power crisis in the summer. The Met official predicted the condition would be normal in next 4-5 days after the arrival of Monsoon.
