TNI Bureau: Odisha will begin the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls from May 30, Chief Electoral Officer R.S. Gopalan announced on Thursday. The exercise will be conducted simultaneously in 16 states.
Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will conduct door-to-door verification from May 30 to June 28 to update voter lists and remove names of non-citizens. Odisha currently has around 3.34 crore registered voters, while nearly 9.80 lakh names have already been deleted after verification.
The state has completed 94.61 per cent voter mapping and appointed 38,123 BLOs for the exercise. After the revision, Odisha will have 45,255 polling booths with around 1,200 voters per booth. Voters will not be required to submit documents during the survey.
The draft electoral roll will be published on July 5, while the final list will be released on September 6, 2026. The CEO said the revision aims to ensure greater accuracy and transparency in the electoral rolls.
