The directive, issued by Usha Padhee, Additional Chief Secretary of the department and Chairperson of IDCO, underscores the state’s commitment to building a gas-based economy and expanding access to cleaner fuel.

As per the order, Urban Local Bodies have been instructed to waive permission fees for laying underground pipelines and related infrastructure. Ongoing and already sanctioned CGD works will not require fresh approvals, reducing procedural delays and ensuring continuity.

To further accelerate implementation, authorities have been directed to grant time-bound approvals, while restrictions on road-cutting have been relaxed for such projects. At the same time, CGD entities will bear the cost of restoring roads and public infrastructure as per prescribed standards.

The Directorate of Municipal Administration Odisha has been designated as the nodal agency to coordinate and monitor execution, with all departments asked to extend full cooperation.

The measures, effective till June 30, 2026, are expected to significantly boost PNG penetration, promote cleaner fuel usage, and strengthen urban infrastructure in Odisha.
