TNI Bureau: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday expressed strong displeasure over the shocking mob lynching incident reported from the Balianta area on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar and directed the Crime Branch to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into the case.
A high-level review meeting chaired by the Chief Minister was held at Lok Seva Bhawan in the evening to assess the circumstances surrounding the incident, which has triggered widespread concern across the state over law and order and the growing menace of mob violence.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister reviewed the details of the case and instructed the Crime Branch to carry out a comprehensive probe to identify all those involved and ensure strict legal action against the culprits. He emphasized that those responsible must face the strongest possible punishment under the law.
Expressing concern over the recurrence of such incidents, the Chief Minister also issued a stern warning to the Director General of Police to remain vigilant and proactive to prevent similar cases in the future. He stressed that the state government is committed to upholding the rule of law and directed the police administration to adopt the strictest measures necessary to maintain public order and ensure citizens’ safety.
The meeting was attended by Chief Minister’s Advisor Prakash Mishra, Chief Secretary Anu Garg, Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department Hemant Sharma, Director General of Police Y. B. Khurania, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Shashwat Mishra, Intelligence Director R. P. Koche, Additional Director General (Law and Order) Sanjay Kumar, ADG Crime Branch Binaytosh Mishra, Police Commissioner S. Dev Datta Singh and DCP Jagmohan Meena among other senior officials.
