Odisha Chit Fund Scam: Politicians land in Jail

Seashore GroupAfter the special CBI court rejected the bail pleas of Mayurbhanj MP Ramachandra Hansda, former Keonjhar MLA Subarna Nayak and former Khariar MLA Hitesh Bagartti, they were sent to Jharpada jail till November 13. Earlier, these leaders pleaded innocence while coming to court during the hearing.

Ramachandra Hansda, Subarna Nayak and Hitesh Bagartti were arrested in connection with the Nabadiganta Capital Services chit fund scam. Bagartti ceased to be a BJP member, while BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik has already suspended Hansda and Nayak following their arrest.

In another development, SeaShore MD Prasanta Das has been remanded to 14-day CBI custody. He was under the Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody for 14 days earlier. Prasanta Das hinted at politicians-chit fund nexus, saying he was penalised because of midnight operation on May 29, 2012 by Pyari Mohan Mohapatra.
