TNI Bureau: The Odisha Cabinet approved 11 proposals from eight departments at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, giving a major boost to renewable energy, skill development, irrigation and governance reforms in the state.

A key decision was the approval of a proposal by Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited to set up a solar cell and module manufacturing facility in Odisha with an investment of around ₹10,000 crore. The proposed unit will have a planned capacity of 15 GW and is expected to generate significant employment opportunities while promoting the growth of ancillary industries.

The Cabinet also approved amendments to the Odisha Special Police Service Rules to align them with the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, aimed at updating and streamlining policing frameworks in line with new criminal laws.

In another important decision, Phase II of the Odisha Skill Development Project was cleared with an outlay of ₹1,140 crore. The project targets training nearly 60,000 youth every year to enhance employability and meet industry demand.

Additionally, the Cabinet approved new irrigation projects in Balasore and Ganjam districts to strengthen agricultural infrastructure, along with measures to further improve the Public Distribution System (PDS) across the state.

The decisions underscore the state government’s focus on sustainable industrial growth, youth empowerment, infrastructure development and administrative reforms.
