NIFT Bhubaneswar Hosts ‘Spectrum 2026 – Naksh’ and ‘Craft Bazar 2026 – Kalakriti’

TNI Bureau: The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Bhubaneswar, under the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, successfully organised its annual cultural fest Spectrum 2026 – Naksh (March 26–27) along with Craft Bazar 2026 – Kalakriti (March 27–28) at its campus, celebrating creativity, culture, and craftsmanship.

Addressing the gathering, Director Prof. Dr. Vibhavari Kumar highlighted the importance of blending traditional craftsmanship with modern fashion education and reiterated NIFT’s role in nurturing industry-ready professionals while preserving cultural identity.

Spectrum 2026 – Naksh was inaugurated on March 26 at 7 PM by Odisha MLA Akash Das Nayak, who lit the ceremonial lamp and appreciated the institute’s contribution to creative excellence. The inaugural evening featured cultural performances showcasing Odisha’s heritage, the opening round of the Mr. and Miss Spectrum contest, and a Star Night by IQQANVE. Sarthak Dalal (Fashion Communication) won the Mr Spectrum title, while Shreya Yadav (Fashion & Lifestyle Accessories) was crowned Miss Spectrum 2026.

On March 27, various competitions such as face painting, Ad-Mad, caricature making, dance, and table tennis were held. The events were judged by eminent personalities including Prachitara Mishra, Satyaban Sethi, Manas Ranjan Sahoo, Sibiyan Nanda, and Babita Sabar. A grand fashion show themed Naksh showcased student collections, followed by band performances.

Meanwhile, Craft Bazar 2026 – Kalakriti was inaugurated on March 27 at 12:30 PM by Chief Guest Pitambar Acharya, Advocate General, and Guest of Honour Dr. Satyajit Naik, IPS, Central Range, Cuttack. The event brought together artisans, designers, and students, showcasing handcrafted products and textiles from states including Bihar, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, and Odisha.

The Craft Bazar aimed to promote sustainable practices, support artisan communities, and strengthen the link between traditional crafts and contemporary design. A special fashion show highlighting handloom and handicrafts was organised by Prof. Ritesh Panda along with Prof. Sobharani Lakra and Prof. Ravi Prakash.

The twin events reflected NIFT Bhubaneswar’s commitment to promoting cultural heritage, supporting artisans, and encouraging innovation among future designers and entrepreneurs.
