Naveen Jindal claimed that Zee News Editors asked his company to spend Rs 100 crore on advertising, promising to run favourable stories. According to Jindal, ZEE News initially telecast negative stories on coalgate against his company and when their official met the reporter and editors, they demanded Rs 100 crore.

Meanwhile, ZEE TV has rubbished all allegations and said that they never wanted any money from Jindal in terms of advertisements. The Zee Group defended its journalists shown in the sting operation. According to Zee News, the Jindal Group offered a bribe to stop bad press and that their editors prepared a dummy contract to expose them.
