National Consumer Rights Day is observed today

TNI Buereau: ‘National Consumer Rights Day’ is being observed today. On this day of 24th December, Consumer Protection Act 1986 was enacted by Parliament. This Act is designed to protect consumer rights to ensure fair competition and free flow of truthful information in the market place.

The laws are designed to prevent businessmen and service providers that engage in fraud or specified unfair practices for gaining an advantage over competitors.

To mark the occasion, several programmes are being organized across the country to aware the consumers on their rights.
