Mercury Soars in Odisha, Heatwave Persists

Intense heatwave conditions made the life difficult for the people in Odisha. The mercury level has gone up above 45 degrees Celsius in many parts of the state. Western Odisha is worst affected.

Sambalpur recorded 46/1 degrees C, while Jharsuguda, Hirakud, Talcher, Balangir, Titilagarh and Sonepur had temperature above 45 degrees C yesterday. Angul and Bhawanipatna recorded above 44 degrees C temperature. Mercury rose to above 42 degrees C in Keonjhar, Sundargarh and Phulbani.

Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and many other towns in the state too recorded above 40 degrees C. With humidity level on the rise in Bhubaneswar, people are having a tough time. The heatwave condition may prevail for another few days. The power crisis has added to the woes of common people.
