Mary Kom beat Maroua Rahali of Tunisia 15-6 in the 51kg fly weight category in a lope-sided contest. She will take on Briton Nicola Adams in the semifinal on Wednesday.

India’s medal hopes took a severe beating, as Vijender Singh crashed out of the London Olympics. He lost to Uzbekistan’s Abbos Atoev in the quarterfinal 13-17.

India’s discus thrower Vikas Gowda made history, as he became the seventh Indian athlete in Olympic history to qualify for the finals of any event. Vikas led his group with a throw of 65.20, but finished fifth overall. The finals will be held today.
