Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh will remain active in politics till 2019 even if congress will not return to power at Centre, as he was elected to Rajya Sabha from Assam for fifth consecutive term.

Even though, there is no certainty whether Dr. Singh will be the prime ministerial candidate of the Congress for the next general elections, but his political career will continue till 2019 with recent victory.
He was voted by 78 Congress MLAs in the 126-member assembly. The polling was held from 9 am to 4 pm on Thursday.
